    Hello and Welcome!

Thank you for taking an interest in your child's Language Arts class. I appreciate your involvement in your son or daughter's learning experiences!

I entered the teaching profession a little later in life, having earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from UW-Madison and working in a variety of marketing, sales and advertising positions for nearly 25 years. Both of my parents were teachers, however, and my own desire to teach never faded.  While I enjoyed each experience I had, including owning my own business, I was ultimately led to pursue my dream, and earned my Teaching Certification from Mount Mary College.

This is my seventh year of teaching at Asa Clark Middle School. I am thankful for all of the experiences I've had that have shaped who I am as a teacher and how I approach my students each day. Having two children of my own (17 and 13 years old), also helps me understand the unique characteristics of the middle school student!

While our goals in Language Arts focus on developing competent and confident readers, writers, speakers and thinkers, my mission is to help harness the innate curiosity my students each have, because being curious is the first step toward authentic learning.

Students will also be working with a classroom management platform called Schoology. Please ask your son or daughter to give you a "tour" through this terrific website, and/or contact me for your own access code.

Finally, students will be publishing their written work on their individual school blogs. This is where you will find their completed work.

I encourage open communication, and hope you will contact me with any questions you have!
