Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Erin Heiman

This is my second year teaching in the Pewaukee School District. I am very excited to be teaching 2nd grade at PLE. I have been teaching for 14 years. 13 years were spent at Dousman Elementary in the Kettle Moraine School District. During my years at Dousman I taught a 1st/2nd grade loop, 2nd grade, 2/3 multi-age, and 3rd grade. 8 of these years were in a co-taught classroom. Teaching is what I have wanted to do since I was in kindergarten.

Being a teacher my learning is never done. I received my initial teaching certificate from Edgewood College in Madison, WI. Next, I went back to get my masters degree from Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI. Knowing the importance of teaching reading I decided to continue at Viterbo in order to receive my reading license and reading specialist license. In the past ten years I have also had the opportunity to attend 8 Teachers College trainings in order to effectively teach readers and writers workshop. My most recent certification is getting my National Board Certification.

Besides teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have a daughter and two sons. My sons have become involved in sports and keep my husband and I chasing around to their practices and games. In the summer we enjoy spending time in our pool. When I find free time for myself I enjoy working out and attempting to digital scrapbook.
