ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS CURRICULUM

    On May 9, 2022 the Board of Education will be presented with the revised curriculum that has been in development since fall 2020.  Below are summary highlights of what will be presented to the Board of Education.

     

    Research Findings:

    • The PSD curriculum review process should ensure that our K-12 curriculum aligns with the WI state standards (released in 2020)
      • Standardized assessments will be aligned to these state standards starting next school year
    • Research affirmed and supported the K-12 workshop practices put into place during previous curriculum renewals
      • Increased focus on phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, phonics and vocabulary
    • Students should have access and understanding of multiple resources from varied perspectives 

     

    Curriculum Revisions:

    • Continued connections to the Graduate Profile
    • Disciplinary literacy
    • Alignment to 2020 WI state standards
    • Refinements in workshop model
      • Phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, phonics, & vocabulary focus
